“Focus more on Skills, not Certificates” – Pantami advises Nigerian Youths.
Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy has emphasized the importance of focusing government at all levels and other government institutions on skills rather than ‘certificates.’
He believes it will go a long way toward not just producing additional job opportunities but also addressing unemployment issues and, as a result, resolving the country’s employment difficulties.
Pantami, who spoke during the prize presentation event and Grand Finale of the Katsina National Talent Hunt Challenge in Katsina on Tuesday, also asked the competition’s organizers to preserve a record and database of all competitors for easier mentorship.
However, Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari emphasized the competition’s goal, which he described as encouraging innovation and developing the state’s and country’s youth’s potential skills and innovators.
Furthermore, he stated that the competition will undoubtedly elevate the state’s EGO position among its counterparts in the country and the world at large.
Meanwhile, Jelani Aliyu, Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, took use of the opportunity to encourage all contestants to keep up the pace and strive to be the greatest in the world in their desired career.
Four distinct divisions of prizes were reserved for the contestants to win during the event, which was attended by officials from both within and outside the state.
The purpose of the event was to promote measures that would bring together qualified applicants from across the country, not just from the state.
